Don’t Quit
Genesis 37:2 (ESV) 2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father.
Genesis 41:46 (ESV) 46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went through all the land of Egypt.
You will notice there were at least thirteen years between Joseph having his first dream and when he ascends to leadership. During those thirteen years, much had happened to Joseph, which impacted and shaped him. Those years were tough, and I would imagine at times hopeless. Imagine the difficulty and pain Joseph endured; he was betrayed by his family and made a slave and then a prisoner. But through it all, Yahweh had a purpose and plan for those years. Those years matured Joseph, positioned Joseph, and most importantly, drew Joseph closer to Yahweh. Joseph never quit.
Too often, when times get tough, stressful, or overwhelming, people choose to quit. Maybe their faith is shaken, or their confidence is cracked, or they are just tired and want to throw in the towel. Whatever the reason, quitting many times will only rob you from the opportunity Yahweh has for you. Much like Joseph, you may not understand why you are where you are or enduring the process you are in. But if your faith remains in Him and not your circumstances, the outcome is always grand.
So, as you start your day, consider what you are enduring today. Are you walking out a process? Does it seem too much? Do not lose hope or faith in the One we walk with. He sees you, and He is with you! Don’t quit.
