In The Potters Hand
My daughter just returned from an incredible trip where she made amazing memories and saw incredible sights. Upon her return, she presented me with a few gifts she brought back from her travels. One of the treasures was a clay jar. This clay jar held great significance because of what it was and where it was from, but that is not what I want to bring to your attention today. Today, I want you think of it for what it is. A jar made of clay. As I held it in my hand and looked at it, I remembered the words of Yahweh God, our Creator, in the book of Jeremiah.
“Then the word of the LORD came to me: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?” says the LORD. “Look carefully, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.” Jeremiah 18:5-6
Clay represents renewal and a continual ability to change and be changed because of its pliability, and has infinite capabilities and possibilities to be used, renewed, changed, stretched, molded, transformed, and transfigured again and again. Yahweh God, in His magnificence knows exactly what is necessary to mold and shape us, how long we need to stay on the wheel, and how much pressured to apply.
When we submit ourselves into His hands, is there anything He cannot do with us? Can He not mold and fashion us, or change us from the inside out? Can He change us down to a cellular level or reshape and create us into His image and likeness? Of course He can, and He can do it better, by His hand than we could ever dream of doing by our own hand.
As I continue to consider during the series that is being taught- WonderFULLY MadE I recognize and know in the deepest places that we ARE FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made for this day. There is constant change, growth, and transformation happening in those who submit themselves to His hand and are willing to be molded and transformed again and again. We are continually being made new.
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8
