Your Sound
Psalms 98:4 (ESV) 4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Yahweh calls His sons to make a joyful noise. Not a chaotic noise or a noise just for noise’s sake, but a joyful noise. A sound that is purposeful and intentional. Consider that throughout scripture, a sound is connected to action. Yahweh makes a sound, and the world is created, Christ states, “It is finished,” as He is on the cross, and the opportunity for salvation came. Paul sang in prison, and he was set free. Making a sound, or, as Psalm 98 states, a noise, has power.
A joyful noise is bold and is an outward expression of praise, worship, reverence, and honor! As His sons, we are directed to be His expression on earth. We cannot allow concerns about what others may think of our noise or let it impact our actions. It always amazes me how people can make a joyful noise at a ball game, at a concert, or at a party, but when it comes to the Kingdom, there is silence.
The power of making noise does not only need to be during the good times, but I dare say it is most important during those trying seasons. When you’re stressed, hurting, overwhelmed, or broken, break out and make a joyful noise! So, as you start your day, consider your sound—your noise. Are you influenced by your surroundings, or are you following the Holy Spirit and making a joyful noise? Let go, let loose, and give off your sound!!!
