Perfect In Him
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Today, self-help books and self-help experts are very popular. People make millions off seminars, classes, conferences, and materials that are suppose to help you become “your best self”. I saw a woman that I follow on a social media platform talking about a self-improvement book. She highly recommended it andgave examples of how it helped her. She was touting this book to her many followers, and I’m confident the book has probably done very well and been well received.
As I thought about this, (and I personally have no problems with utilizing what can help me learn and grow by those gifted in a particular area) my thoughts turned to the Father and I considered how, He is truly the source of all that we have need or want. I thought to myself, “We have access to the ultimate expert, and the ultimate materials. We have access to the supply of heaven.”
Consider the following:
Doing hard things
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.Philippians 4:13
Changing my mindset
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Romans 12:2
Becoming New
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Body transformation
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Raising children
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is oldhe will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Servant Leadership
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”Matthew 20:26-28
Remember this in whatever you do: Our desire should be to become who He created us to be, remembering why we were sent. Our desire should not be focused on what the world claims is “the best version of self” but rather should be on Him as we submit ourselves to Him. When we do that, we WILL be who He says that we are, and we WILL do and accomplish exactly what we are created for. We will be perfect in Him, continually matured, and going from glory to glory.
