Shake It Up

The Rock of Central Florida   -

Consider this. God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating. (Colossians 1:13-14, New English Translation)

What an incredible thing to consider. I don’t know about you, but I know that I would certainly be in some dark dungeons and some dead-end alleys without Yahweh. Yikes.

Now, not to rain on the warm campfire we have going, but let’s follow this line of thought. We’ve established that if you know God you’re not in a dark dungeon or in a dead-end alley. So the question is this: where are you?

We’re not in the worst places we could be– Yahweh rescued us from that. But is it possible to find ourselves instead wandering in mediocre places? When things aren’t the worst, it can be easy to fall into a repetitive routine and find ourselves listless in our relationship with Yahweh.

So what do I propose? Inject a bit of the unexpected into your routine today. Choose one (or all) of the following:

  1. Sing a song to Yahweh that has never been sung (you don’t have to do this in front of anyone)

  2. Tell Yahweh one thing that you love about him and why

  3. Ask Yahweh if you’re exactly where he wants you. In your family, profession, leisure, and aspirations. He’s faithful, and he’ll answer.

  4. Write three sentences down about what your thankful for. Read it to the Father.

  5. Ask Yahweh to show you something you’ve never seen before.

Shake up your walk. Find yourself somewhere new and wonderful today. Avoid the mediocre by embracing the new and the living and taking action.
