When We Seek Him
Holy Spirit dropped a word in my heart one morning this past week. “Seek Me and you will find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.” I knew of this well-known verse.
Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
And
But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
There are two words in the original Hebrew language that represent seeking the Father. Darash, meaning to inquire or search carefully for something, and bakash, which means to request something. Both words are discovery and petition, and active.
This seeking is not striving, struggling, and toiling for something unattainable, but rather to seek the Father is to know Him, intimately and fully in relationship. When we seek, we come to know His heart. When we position ourselves to know His heart we begin to mature, through the relationship. Our heart begins to be as His, our thoughts and our ways as His. Our requests align with His desires. Since the beginning, Yahweh has desired us to walk with Him in the cool of the day, commune, and fellowship with Him. His desire is to reveal His glory in all the earth through His sons.
He does not hide His face from those who are looking and the more we seek our Father the more we begin to look, behave, and sound like Him. The more we seek to know His character the more our character becomes like His.
Who and what we seek matters. It is not found without but within- Him. Yahweh God is of vital necessity to all of mankindand the promise is clear and sure- “you WILL” find Him when you look with all of your heart.
