Look Deeper
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
Today, at The Rock, I found myself looking around the room at those gathered. I saw individuals, families, children, and adults. Some faces were thoughtful and others held big smiles. My heart warmed looking at them, at us, knowing that each one has an individual story and journey in the room. Together we are something very beautiful.
I wondered how often I take a moment to deeply consider those I’m joined to. By simply turning my eyes around the room, my perspective changed beyond my own moment of life to the community of people around me. Today, I encourage you to look beyond the surface. This verse reminds us to do so. It’s natural for us to think someone is well or strong if they look to be, but maybe they need support. Maybe someone struggles to be the one to speak up, but you can see that they have something important to say and you can provide the encouragement and ear for them.
Look deeper today. See others like Yahweh sees them. Put your hands over your heart, and over your eyes, and speak over yourself to see like He does. You will bless Yahweh to shift into His perspective, and you will bless and empower those you see clearly. See the heart today!
