Communion
“While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. “Take and eat it,” he said; “this is my body.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to them. “Drink it, all of you,” he said; “this is my blood, which seals God’s covenant, my blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
Matthew 26:26-28
While having communion recently, it was pointed out that in those days they broke bread from the same piece of bread and they shared wine from the same vessel or cup. You can see in scripture that He took a piece if bread and took a cup. Many were gathered around that table.
This made me consider our congregation. We are many in number, but our source of life is the same. We eat the same bread and drink from the same cup. We all have different purpose in the earth, but our source of life is the same. It’s important that we remember that! Food for thought.
