Slave or Son?

The Rock of Central Florida   -

Galatians 5:1

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

“My sonship is not measured by doing all things right. My sonship is measured by my faith.”     Steve Parker

Recently, we have been learning the differences between a slave and a son. We have learned that a slave is motivated by guilt and shame, where a son finds his motivation in the love of his father. Yahweh desires a relationship with us that is defined by relationship and not just a set of rules to follow.

Have you ever noticed that some of the most unhappy people in the world are those that are bound up in rules and regulations? They find comfort in rigid structure but have no real freedom. They may not even realize they are slaves to a system and are just content with knowing that all of their decisions are being made for them.

Sons, on the other hand, pursue freedom! They thrive in it. Now, does it mean they are looking to break rules and laws? No, it simply means they hear the voice of Yahweh, and He alone tells them where to go and what to do. Sons are fueled by faith and not fear, so as you start your day, focus on your relationship with Yahweh and quit worrying about everything you should or shouldn’t do. Let Him guide you!
