He Has Plans For You
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
As people, we are constantly trying to achieve our plans or goals. These self-define futures are usually based on cultural standards or aspirations for worldly success. These in themselves are not wrong. But often leads people to shift focus from Yahweh’s plan and to be driven toward another personal plan.
For example, years ago I met with a financially successful family man who had young children. He was a believer and walked with Yahweh for many years. During our meeting he expressed to me that God told him to go to Africa and to support a specific orphanage. First question I asked him – are you sure? He replied 100% sure, I know that is what God told me. My second question was – when are you leaving and how can I help? His reply is a common one I have heard many times. I am not sure. I have my career, not sure my wife would support this, and I have young children who are in a local school. In other words, he gave me a list of reasons why he could not go. He totally forgot it was Yahweh who gave him a plan and purpose, and nothing should take precedence over it.
We are inspired in Jeremiah 29:11 that Yahweh has an amazing plan and purpose for every one of us. He reminds us that those plans are for our good and give us a future in Him. But when we turn our motivation away from Him, then I dare say our future is at risk.
So, as you start your day, remember, and be encouraged that Yahweh has a plan and purpose for you. It is a unique and specific one, designed just for you. If you are not sure yet of the next step you are to take, then just stand and be still and know He is God. But once it has been revealed do not allow the world, yourself, or anyone else to get in the way of obeying and executing it!
