Instruction, Law, Teaching, Part III
“Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, And on His Law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season, And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3
If you have not had a chance to read parts one and two yet, I encourage you to do so. The first verses of Psalm are a wealth of guidance- wise instruction, the law of Spirit and truth, and teaching that we may be equipped. The book of Psalm is worship, and we are to live our lives as worship to the Father, to live in such a way that honors and glorifies Him. One of the ways we do that is to meditate on Him- His word, His voice and instruction, and what we are taught through the written as well as spoken word.
And then….
That son is “like a tree planted by water… fruit in all seasons… leaves do not wither and all he does is prosperous.” The AMP version of scripture tells us that we will be “firmly planted [and fed] and…. he prospers [and comes to maturity].” We have now been told, through David who was a man after Yahweh’s own heart, that by listening to instruction, delighting in His law (His word to us) and meditating, that it will plant us firmly, we will be fed and we will prosper- unto complete maturity. It is never-ending, and ever increasing.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8
To be taught is progressive and productive- growing, expanding, and advancing, rather than drawing from the reservoir of yesterday. It again points us to listen. We never fear the heat or the storm, the wind or the drought. We are positioned in the supply of heaven, life abundant in all areas, joy, healing, wisdom, understanding, discernment. Whatever we have need of it is available.
Take note, when we are planted on the bank of the river, receiving instruction for what is next, meditating on His law day and night, and being taught how to govern, grow, and advance in maturity there is no time or even place for walking in the way of the wicked, standing in the path of sinners, or sitting in the seat of scoffers. Our moments and spaces are full of Him and full of worship…. Which I believe is His intent.
