Trust Christ

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Eph. 4:29 (ESV)

Many times I’ve read this scripture in reference to what we say, and around whom. I’ve found myself looking back into my past at moments that may have seemed appropriate to say something that pointed to my old nature. That isn’t really helpful at all because I’ve been made new by the blood of Christ.
The corrupting talk that’s referenced in the above scripture is speaking of those specific words that will be harmful in the moment and be of no benefit to the hearer. We don’t always have to say something that sounds like it is adding to the conversation, when in reality we may have corrupted the very essence of what we’ve just spoken. Corrupt talk isn’t always a reflection of your past, it can also be a stumbling block as we try to “add” to Holy Spirit’s moment.
Today, don’t think about what you might say wrong, but trust what Christ gives you and flow with that. Sometimes if we think about what He’s asked us to do and dwell on the “how to” instead of just being ourselves, we’ll miss the moment He’s given us.
