Being A Son
But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45
As Christ was teaching about the Kingdom of God, He instructs us on how we are to treat others. Even our “enemies” and those who persecute or harass us. To the point that he states how we treat these individuals plays a part in us becoming a son to Yahweh. What a command!! Not an easy one, but one He has empowered us to do.
Being a son is not about doing the easy things, but the righteous things. Being a son is not about selfishness but striving to fulfill Yahweh’s purpose. Being a son is not about self-promotion but being His expression.
So, as you start your day, ask yourself what Yahweh is commanding you to do. Is it to pray for those who harass you? To love those who want to harm you. He wants you to be like Christ was toward us. He loved us, He prayed for us, even when we were His enemies (Romans 5:10). He wants us to be a son.
