The Streetlight Effect
He reveals mysteries from the darkness and brings the deep darkness into light. Job 12:22
I recently heard a story about the “streetlight effect.” It tells of a man who knows he lost his keys in the shadows but looks for them under the streetlight, as that is where it’s easiest to see. Sometimes we look for answers in the same places as always, when we know that what we need is somewhere else.
Today is there a place in Yahweh, or in yourself, that you have ignored? Are there answers that you can find in Him, rather than in another person, a book, or Google? Can you dig deeper today in pursuit of His heart? We all know examples of those who seek out a specific answer by looking up a particular Bible verse, or the child who goes to the parent who will give a preferred response, or when we reach out to a friend for confirmation of what we already know. But I challenge, and encourage, you today to look with new eyes for the answer that He will provide you. Let Him call you to deeper waters, to truth, and find the treasure He has stored up, just for you.
