Lean On Him

The Rock of Central Florida   -

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.”

Recently my husband and I found ourselves in some debt. While I do have incredible health insurance coverage, two recent {unexpected} trips to the Hospital cost us close to $4,000.00 after insurance paid the bulk of the bills. Because we are already paying a monthly payment for an upcoming baby delivery, adding an additional monthly payment to pay off the new debt was incredibly unfortunate for us financially.

Shortly after we learned of our new debt and the need to start payments in July, our brother asked to move in with us. What a perfect opportunity to help him while using his rent payment to pay off my unexpected medical bills! Sounds like the perfect plan, right? Wrong. We did not have peace with the idea of charging him even one penny. We know better than to violate our peace, even if it doesn’t make sense naturally. So, rather than charge him rent or a food allowance of some kind, we gave submitted to Yahweh and as to not be foolish, my husband got a second job.

This afternoon my phone dinged. It was the hospital. The message said, “Your balance has been updated.” I logged in to see what in the world that meant and found that my outstanding balance had been cleared. How can that be?! It showed what my insurance paid, what I had paid, and then read, “DISCOUNT:” which included all of the remaining balance, leaving us owing $0.00. Thank you, Yahweh! Through tears, I immediately reached out to my husband and we thanked Yahweh! We considered how we had to submit to Yahweh and not lean on our own understanding. Yahweh made this path straight for us!

As you start your day today, I encourage you to lean on Him. You don’t have to try and figure it all out. Stay in your peace, even if you feel there’s a solution. Had we gone with the seemingly “perfect plan,” we would be making what we thought would be “significant payments” until the end of this year! But, Yahweh! Lean on your Father. Submit ALL of your ways to Him. He will make your paths straight!
