See and Be Seen
Recently, I was afforded the opportunity to visit an immersive art exhibit. It is interactive, and feel as though you are a part of it not just looking at it.
In this particular exhibit was a maze of mirrors to walk through. Immediately, your mind probably went to the carnival fun houses that are full of mirrors, dimly lit, where you feel lost and are bumping into things because it confuses your senses. This was not the case where I was. Though made of mirrors there were no confusing walls or distracting lights. It was brightly lit, very calm, and almost serene. What was captivating was that the overall feel was one of exploration and discovery, and it was three levels. As you moved in and through this room of pathways and corridors going in every direction, there were multiple stairways to a second and third level, and once at the top you could look down and see everything. It was multidimensional in every sense, and it seemed that no matter where you were you could see everywhere and everything all at once. Nothing was hidden, no matter where you looked you could see.
As I walked in this space, I was reminded of one of my favorite scriptures.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:9-12
We are being called to see and be seen, and to mature. Not in part, not in one area, or on one level. It is a limitless vision. Yahweh is calling us to see fully, and in the brightness of His glory. It is not created to bring confusion, but rather to bring us to the next place where maturity is reached, the old is passed away and we see face to face. The maturity is to interpret correctly what is seen and what our positioning needs to be in any given moment.
I encourage you to consider. Where are you to be positioned today? Do we need to go up the stairs and get a broader, overview perspective or walk down a path or corridor and see every side? Is it time to put away some childish things? While it may seem fun or adrenaline inducing to be in the mirrored fun house, bumping around in the dark, the greater thing is to see and be seen in HIS glory, in every facet of who we are, in every angle and side we look at.
