The Spiritual Treasure of Relationship
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20
When you think about this scripture, one could easily interpret it to mean we should be storing up spiritual riches for the afterlife. However, when I consider true and lasting wealth, I look no further than the very people Yahweh has surrounded me with. I value immensely the relationships in my life. I am joined to deep and thoughtful people. People that consider their words and don’t speak haphazardly. This is true wealth to me. Building eternal relationships that enrich me and bring life to my family.
I believe some of the richest people in the world can also be some of the loneliest. I never want to be the person that surrounded myself with so much “stuff,” but never took the time to tie strings with my brothers and sisters. Take time this week to consider who Yahweh has placed in your life. Place your value on people and not possessions. Love you all!
