Affirm Your Spirit
“A soothing tongue [speaking words that build up and encourage] is a tree of life, but a perversive tongue [speaking words that overwhelm and depress] crushes the spirit.” Proverbs 15:4 (AMP)
Have you heard of self-affirmations? Maybe you’ve seen a video of a mom getting her young daughter ready for the day and having her repeat these positive phrases. Things like, “I am strong. I am beautiful. I am smart. I am kind.” These affirmations help our brains to maintain a positive self-view and resist low self-esteem when something difficult happens. They’re reminders of our worth, despite our feelings or circumstances. These words can strengthen the soul.
What if we did this for our spirits?
Repeat after me:
I am made on purpose.
Everything I need today is available through Yahweh.
My will is aligned with Your will, Father.
My joy in You is true and ever-lasting.
I open my spiritual eyes today to see what You have created.
I remind myself of what You have said to me.
I can know You better today than I ever have before.
I say YES to all this day holds.
What else can you say to bring Heaven and Earth together in you? What can you say today with and over your children? Let your tongue build up and encourage, like a tree FULL of life. Let that tree produce fruit to sustain you and create shade to refresh those around you. Affirm your spirit, for it is the very essence of Yahweh within you!
