Weight of Responsibility
And the man said to me, “Son of man, look with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.” Ezekiel 40:4
It is important that we pay attention to what we see and what we hear. On a very practical level, have you ever taken a moment to consider what it takes to see, and hear? The answers are simple yet actively profound. We must actively look, and you must actively listen, and then we are told we must set our heart upon all that He shows us and then declare all that we see. The counsel within this instruction is evident.
I could go on about Ezekiel for a long time! He is a man that did what he was called to do. It did not matter if it went against what had always been done, it did not matter if it had ever been said, and it did not matter what others may be thinking. Ezekiel recognized that he was sent into this earth as a living being full of the breath of Yahweh God, and he took his responsibility to see and to hear very seriously, and subsequently set his heart fully and declared it faithfully. The weight of the responsibility was not lost on him.
Ezekiel is a foundation layer. Every religious belief system he had ever known was removed. Yahweh took him to a place where he was complete and readied and taught. He was brought into a space of being an active prophet and prepared to speak (declare)- something that can only be done by a matured son. Yahweh taught him how to speak, declare, and utilize the protocol given. As the Father opened up a new space to Ezekiel, He instructed him, from start to finish, on how to move within the space so that a new covenant could be made with a restored people.
When Yahweh opens up the space to us, it is not just to have a neat experience or a cool encounter, but He is doing so because you need to have a complete view of what to speak and how to move. This is the responsibility, and this requires maturity.
“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.” Acts 20:27
Don’t let the weight of the responsibility be lost on you. Set yourself to be prepared and readied to declare the whole, not a piece or portion, but the whole will of God. We are mandated as sent ones, let’s do it well.
