What Is Your House Made Of?
The Big Bad Wolf is here, and His name is Holy Ghost.
“Once upon a time there were three little pigs. One pig built a house of straw while the second pig built his house with sticks. They built their houses very quickly and then sang and danced all day. The third little pig worked hard all day and built his house with bricks.
A big bad wolf saw the two little pigs while they danced and played and thought, ‘What juicy tender meals they will make!’ He chased the two pigs and they ran and hid in their houses. The big bad wolf went to the first house and huffed and puffed and blew the house down in minutes. The frightened little pig ran to the second pig’s house that was made of sticks. The big bad wolf now came to this house and huffed and puffed and blew the house down in hardly any time. Now, the two little pigs were terrified and ran to the third pig’s house that was made of bricks. The big bad wolf tried to huff and puff and blow the house down, but he could not. He kept trying for hours, but the house was very strong and the little pigs were safe inside.”
An excerpt from The Three Little Pigs
If I were to make a list of what I am building at the moment it would read: my relationship with my family, my relationship with my husband, my relationship with my daughter, my responsibilities at work, and the Council. I consider each one of those things a “house.” This is how I personally am expanding the Kingdom of God in the earth. My words can either be straw, sticks, or bricks. My response in every moment matters.
When the wind comes – and it will – will my house stand? What I build will be tested. If I don’t take accountability for what I am building before the wind comes – if I pass blame or hide behind a façade – when the wind comes, it will tear apart my house piece by piece until the foundation (root) is exposed.
Yahweh’s mercy is evident in the fact that He gives ample opportunity for us to replace straw and sticks with bricks before He blows on the house. He doesn’t expect us to build the Kingdom perfectly the first try. In other words, He gives us the opportunity to right our wrongs in private before He ever makes them public.
Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God, judges everything about your house by blowing on it to see if it stands. He does this to preserve the integrity of the Kingdom.
I am taking a look at what I’ve built and what I am currently building. Do I need to replace any straw and sticks with bricks? It’s not too late to renovate, but the wind is coming. He is looking for builders to build the Kingdom of God and I want to be found worthy of building.
