Be Like Gaius
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosper.” (3 John 1:2)
In this scripture, John was acknowledging the faithful works of his friend, Gaius (his name means happy). Because word had spread about how earnestly Gaius walked in the truth and demonstrated much love for the people and how he withheld nothing from his brothers or strangers. Therefore, John blessed him and declared that his health would prosper as much as his soul prospered.
Now, here is what I love most about Gaius. He was truly known for being a wonderful person. His life was a reflection of the gospel that he walked in. Gaius clearly understood that truth makes you free and real sustainable joy only comes from the Father. Yes, this is great news! Because we serve the same God that Gaius served. The same God that caused his health and life to be as full as his love for the truth.
Today, we as a house are in an awesome place. We have the kind of opportunity to demonstrate to the Father how much we love Him –by way of— first loving of ourselves, our brothers and strangers. And, there is no doubt that life and health will be a part of who we are as it was in Gaius. You see, Gaius must have understood that life is multiplied when it is given away. Truly, that is how the gifts of the Father work. Every precious and valuable gift that He gives becomes more valuable when it is given away.
So, I ask…what precious gift is longing to be increased in you? What are you in need of most? Is it love, joy, peace, life, finances or health? Whatever you need is in you and is waiting to be given – from within you – so that it may be increased to you. Know this. Yahweh has made – you and me – the source. Because He lives—in us! The more you give, the more you will have to give. Pressed down, shaken together and running over. Consider that!
