Through The Eyes Of Contentment
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
Paul had no easy life. At times, he was on the run from people who wanted to kill him and he sometimes found himself writing letters to believers from the ‘comfort’ of prison cells. Paul learned that the fruit of contentment is developed when we are thankful for what Yahweh has provided, whether we like it or not.
By expressing gratitude, Paul received a richness of being, not having. Yahweh gives us contentment in the midst of every season and land he has planted us. That contentment will not always look how we think it should. Instead, it will be presented in the form that Yahweh decides is best for the situation. Whatever that may be, we must show our gratitude.
When we learn to be content in any situation, we are placing everything we are and will ever be in Yahweh’s hands. Can that be scary?
If we are honest, yes. And that is ok, that is because we have our faith in that Yahweh has always and always will protect us.
No matter what the circumstance (good or bad) you are walking through at this very moment in time, know that Yahweh has it all planned out, step by step, breath by breath, moment by moment. All you have to do is take a moment to recognize where Yahweh has chosen to place you and simply be content.
Out of a heart of contentment comes gratitude that creates an atmosphere where joy and peace thrive. Look at where you are at right now. When it comes down to it, what’s more valuable than contentment, peace, joy, fulfillment, and love?
Yahweh, of course, because he provides all that and a whole lot more to those who choose to follow him. Just remember, where you are at right now, is not your final destination.
