Witnesses Witnessing
During a recent Sunday morning service, our Visionary took a moment and illuminated how the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and depending on their position, whether they were in the front or the back, their perspectives of the situation may be different and it could potentially affect their faith. In that moment, I saw the people crossing not only as a nation of people chosen to do the seemingly impossible, but as generation after generation after generation, chosen to do the seemingly impossible. I realized we have an amazing assignment. Our testimony as a witness is paramount in this Day, and our ability to recognize the witnesses before us, behind us, and around us can have a substantial impact on our faith as well as others around us.
To testify of the faithfulness of the one true and living God is our witness. To declare that He alone was, is, and is to come. His deliverance, His faithfulness, His guidance, and the relationship available- it should all be talked about, and declared over and over, and to anyone who will give ear. As a witness it is opportunity for us to declare, “It has been done, it can be done, it will be done, and it is being done!” Our lives testify that our faith is in the One in whom we trust, Yahweh; He is God, omnipotent, and magnificent in all of His ways. It should be something we cannot contain, nor should we want to.
“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20 (NIV)
Furthermore, to recognize the witness who brings the testimony is laying hold of the opportunity. What opportunity you may ask? To acknowledge Yahweh’s power! To strike hands and come into agreement, and to join your faith with theirs. It is the awareness to see and to hear of the goodness of our Father, to breath in His breath, and then release the recognition and declaration from your mouth. We will not just pass it off as a good “thing”, but will come into agreement that it is the glory of the almighty God we serve.
To witness is so multifaceted it cannot be contained within a few paragraphs. Those who have gone before us have lived by faith and testified and witnessed of His goodness. We hear the stories, we read about the wonderous miracles and healings, restorations and redemptions. From one generation to the next generation, the ones before us and those coming behind us; Yahweh is a faithful God. In this day, may we recognize the witness, and let us likewise testify as ones full of faith and declare His greatness in all the earth.
