Living by the Spirit and Not the Law
Jeremiah 31:33
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
While reading in Exodus this week, I have noticed the great detail Yahweh used in His instruction to Israel concerning the law. He was very specific in the way he told them to follow the law. The consequences for not following the smallest detail was sometimes even punishable by death. Can you imagine living in a world like this? Constantly worrying about everything being perfect. Constantly having to make sure every rule is followed? How could you ever enjoy a relationship with Yahweh under the law?
Thankfully, Yashua was sent to restore the relationship between us and the Father. He was sent to teach us how to walk by the Spirit and not simply to follow a set of rules and regulations. The new covenant was that the law would be written on our hearts (not on stone tablets). Think about it, Yashua healed on the Sabbath because He was moving by the Spirit. The leaders of the church at this time could not get past their own law to see that healing was the right course of action.
As you go through your week, pay attention to the Spirit in every situation. If Yahweh instructs you to do something (even if it goes against a doctrine you were taught), do it! And do it without hesitation. Yahweh longs for Sons who have relationship with Him and who have His perfect law written on their hearts!
