Be Lead by Truth, Not Emotion

1st Corinthians 2:14

“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

Steve taught us this past Sunday that we are to be led by truth and not emotion. Emotions lie and do not show us the truth in situations. I work at a place where I can honestly say that people are almost exclusively ruled and led by their emotions. If things are good, they are happy and in a good mood. If things are bad, they become angry and bitter. Admittedly, there have even been times where I myself have been caught up in the good and bad emotions of the day.

We are human after all, and our soul (which houses our emotions) is very active all the time. Yahweh has grace for us, and He gave us emotion to guide us to the truth, not to rule over our decision making. Someone who operates 100% out of emotion cannot discern the things of the Spirit of God. Like the above passage states, they are “folly” to him.

By the way, usually when you decide to put your complete focus on the truth, everything around you will test your resolve to see how you will respond. I’m serious.. It will most likely seem like there is a full moon, and people and circumstances will come at you from every direction. Take heart and know that Yahweh is with you. He will lead you to the truth no matter what it looks like. Start your day with truth and keep those emotions out of your decisions.
