Knowledge

The Rock of Central Florida   -
The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.
Proverbs 18:15
I had an interesting conversation at work this week about knowledge. One person said that there is a difference between access to knowledge and knowledge itself, and some people confuse the two. An example could be that with access to so much information online, some think that being able to search out an answer is the same as knowing it. In fact, they may never learn or retain any number of things, because the internet always has what they might look for. I think of how many phone numbers I used to have memorized, and now my phone stores them so easily that most new phone numbers I never even attempt to memorize.
So I wonder… are there areas of spirituality where we might not have really internalized what Yahweh has tried to teach us? Are there places it’s just so easy to get an answer that we don’t truly learn foundational things, or what’s built upon that foundation?
Let us endeavor to be discerning people. Let’s access, or seek out, knowledge, and once we hold it, keep it dear. Today speak over your eyes, ears, and every sense, that whatever you access of the kingdom, that it will be part of you. Be the good soil today, and every day, that when you hear what is good, noble, and true, you plant in your heart. Then, in time, you will be the source of wisdom for another, and you will have a deep well to draw upon for every season of life.
