Extol the Lord Your God
I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. Psalm 145:1-7
This is a reminder today. We were created to give praise to the Father. In every moment.
The first words of Psalm 145 set the tone for the next few verses and if anyone were to wonder how or when to praise the Creatorof the universe, this is a perfect chapter to read. To extol means to ‘praise enthusiastically or very highly’. Not a little bit, or with whatever time and energy we have left over, but to praise Him, our God, greatly with all our zeal and passion. When we extol our Father, we praising Him, giving Him all glory and all honor. We are saying, “Yes Yahweh! YOU did that, and it is glorious!”
We are not called to praise our Father for just a season, or moment. Again, it is clear, it is forever and ever. We never stop. Not one day, or a certain day, but “every day” we are to give Him our heartfelt gratitude and praise. To give thanks and worship for all that Yahweh God has done, is doing, and will do.
Today, my encouragement is this: praise the Father. Praise Him for His majesty and for His wonderous works in your life. Think of the magnificent ways He has changed you, matured you, and the marvelous works He has done in your life personally. Do not do it in a rote manner to just say that you did it. Change the atmosphere where you are by extolling your God. Make His name great and tell the next generation. Tell of His goodness and faithfulness, of His holiness, and of His awesome power.
