What You Sow
Galatians 6:7-9 (ESV) 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton discovered and set forth the law of gravity. It is an absolute principle of nature and cannot be argued about its properties or existence. Another absolute principle is the law of seed, time, and harvest.
There is one specific aspect of this law I want to point out: your harvest is reflective of the seed you plant. The seed you plant can be anything. For example, your time, kindness, generosity, humility, compassion, faithfulness, finances, loyalty, honesty, and the list go on. I imagine listing these “good seeds” comes easy. And if you reflect on your life, you could directly connect those good seeds to specific harvests.
But truth be told, not all seed is good. No one wants to admit the times they may have planted “bad seed.” We have all done it one time or another. For instance, anger, pride, lying, selfishness, gossip, impatience, greediness, unfaithfulness, and this list goes on. This is not to condemn anyone, but to remind you that it is up to you what “seed” you want to plant. And please do not allow your storm, your trial, or your circumstances to dictate to you what you sow.
So, as you start your day, reflect and consider the seeds you sow. In a nutshell, bad seed leads to a bad harvest, while good seed leads to a good harvest. Place your trust in Yahweh, listen to the Holy Spirit, and you cannot help but plant goodness.
