The Garment of Christ

The Rock of Central Florida   -

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I recently saw a video of a man talking about “putting on the garment of Christian.” He was speaking about salvation and how it is through Jesus and His sacrifice that we are able to approach YHWH, for we have all sinned and by our own works, disqualified ourselves from righteousness. The first part of what this man said I totally agreed with and personally, I have spent a lot of time meditating and reflecting on the gravity of what Jesus has done for me as well as voice my thankfulness to Him. I only have a seat at the table as a son because He made a way for me to be there, not because of anything I’ve earned. What an amazing gift that is!

The next part of this man’s statement grieved me in consideration of what we have been learning these past few months on being a true son of YHWH. The man said that the only way we get into heaven is by putting on the garment of Christ (true). But then he said, “We have to sneak our way in like a Trojan horse.” Now, I don’t know this man personally and maybe he didn’t mean what he said in the way I heard it, but how many Christians today just accept the gift of salvation and feel like now they just keep their head low and sneak into heaven when they pass on from this earth? How many people only see Christ’s sacrifice as a ticket to heaven and not a pathway to relationship? I know that we aren’t able to save ourselves and NEED Jesus, but I also know that YHWH’s purpose for us is more than going to heaven when we die. He created us with purpose and loves us. When we understand that He craves a relationship with us and gave His son to be a pathway for us to not be attached to sin, we can see that the Kingdom is here and now and we get to be a part of it before we die.

So as you go about your day, put on the garment of Christ. Acknowledge what He sacrificed for you and understand who you represent. You are a son and have been given a seat at the King’s table. Help build His Kingdom today!
