A Powerful Legacy
Consider this. If you’re a Son or Daughter led by the Spirit, you’re charged to carry on a powerful legacy.
Scripture says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:
Here’s the key– the verse continues: “and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.” (Romans 8:14-17 ASV)
This means by definition, you’re a person who has inherited the legacy of a predecessor and is expected to continue it. And that predecessor is Jesus Christ.
So how do we live up to that tall of an order? Where do we even start? Well, thankfully we have Holy Spirit to guide us, teach us, and help us. But practically speaking how do you truly ‘center yourself’ or find yourself in the anointing of Christ?
If we could ask Jesus today, what would he say? He’d probably just remind us of what he said was the most important commandment(s).
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.” (Matthew 22:37-40 MSG)
Carry on the legacy of Christ by placing your passions, intelligence, and prayers in Yahweh, and treating the lowest you encounter like you were looking in a mirror.
