Value The Process
Genesis 45:7-8 (ESV) 7 And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. 8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
Often, people enjoy and delight in the fruit of their labor but do not always embrace the process of getting there. In fact, people admire others who are popular, wealthy, have esteemed positions of power, and are doing well for themselves and their families. The value is placed in their status of success and not in the process it took to get them there. No one enjoys suffering, struggling, or facing difficult challenges, but those experiences are often the very foundation of the process.
Joseph was hated and sold by his brothers, and for many years he suffered and struggled as a slave and as a prisoner. But as you see in Genesis 39:2 and Genesis 39:21, Yahweh was with him, blessed him, and taught him. Joseph discovered the demanding season he went through served a purpose. He realized the process he experienced prepared him to be a leader, a servant, and a son. Joseph recognized the value of his process; what was meant to harm him actually prepared him.
So, as you start your day, consider your life and where you are. Is your focus on the goal or the process of getting there? The “process” is where Yahweh does His work in you. Yes, it may be a demanding season, it may not go according to your plan, or it may seem overwhelming at times, but His process has a purpose. Trust Him and value the process Yahweh placed you in.
