Newness
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4
When Paul was writing the book of Romans, the word newness indicates resurrection. Now, this may seem untimely since we are in the season of celebrating the birth of Christ, but we must acknowledge and recognize that the death and subsequent resurrection of Christ in which we have our salvation would not have been possible were it not for his birth in the first place. Our Father is wonderfully intentional, and every moment is purposeful.
The new life that was the birth of Yahshua the Christ was for the ultimate (though not only) purpose of resurrection that we could walk in fullness and truth and complete, unhindered relationship with Yahweh God.
His birth (and life) ushered in a new age, a new Day which introduced the kingdom of God into all the earth to Jews and gentiles alike. It was a day like no other, and one that even Mary (Jesus’ mother) “treasured and pondered in her heart.” (Luke 2:19)
As we step into a new year, let us continue to celebrate the new life that entered into the earth, the Son of God that enabled and gave way for us to likewise be sons. Ones sent, the elect to walk as new men through the receiving of Christ and the dying of the old man and resurrection of the new man. May this new year that is coming see us demonstrate the new day that points all who we encounter to the Father and introduces the kingdom to those who have yet to see it.
