His Peace
John 14:27 (ESV) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world
gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Peace is a simple concept that most people spend their entire lives trying to achieve. Peace is defined as the absence of war or conflict, which implies security and tranquility. The opposite of peace is a sense of being unsettled or troubled. I believe no one wants to live a life in constant turmoil but rather come to a place of calm and peace.
But the world wants nothing more than conflict and stress in our lives. So, people will turn to alcohol, drugs, money, fame, careers, etc. in attempts to attain temporary relief. We have all heard others comment, “If I had more money, all my problems would be gone” or “one more drink, and I will feel better.” There are so many instances where people will turn to worldly remedies in hopes of finding peace.
But there is only one way to attain true life-giving peace, and that is in and through Christ. Christ states in John 14 that His peace is not like the world but one that comes directly from Him. This peace is a free gift from Christ, and we just need to align our spirit with His and trust Him. His peace does not remove the trials or problems we may be facing, but it gives us the inner strength and confidence to endure and overcome.
So, as you start your day, let us place our faith and obedience in Christ, the true Prince of Peace. Do not turn to the world for a temporary fix, but to Him, who will calm your heart and remove those fears.
