The Silent Build
“While it was being built, the house was built of stone prepared and finished (precut) at the quarry, and no hammer, axe, or iron tool of any kind was heard in the house while it was under construction.” 1 Kings 6:7
Recently, there has been a call to build and there was an awesome post made on social media that I feel bears attention and is worthy of hearing again….. I think there is a release as well as an important reminder:
“The presence of silence never equals the absence of God.”
There is an excitement to build. We love to build, and aligned with His word, we are builders. He will put a vision in the hearts of the sons, and then provides exactly what is needed exactly when it is needed if we are faithful to hear His voice and move accordingly. Just because we do not hear the work that is happening does not mean that work is not taking place. That is the kind of God we serve!
In 1 Kings we are given an excellent example of Yahweh God’s incredible faithfulness, and His character. In this building process there is often silence. The work is being done, but it is not noisy and boisterous. Every stone is carved and shaped in the quarry (a large and deep pit), and then taken to the place where the temple is being built. There is no sound, no clanging or banging at the building site. The work, the labor, the shaping and refining is being done according to His design so at the appointed time of arrival the stones come and are set in place. Stone upon stone, perfect height, perfect width, and perfect depth.
The building is happening though we may not see it or hear it. The stones are being hewn and shaped. They are being precisely cut for fit, every side and facet being perfected. When they move from quarry to site and are set into place there will be no need for noisy and laborious ‘saw a little off the top, sandblast it over here, or chisel out the edges over there’. Each piece is shaped and readied and the building is raised up quickly and quietly as each stone comes in and they are set into place until SUDDENLY…..
So today, make it personal. He is at work right now so that every part of us is matured height, matured width, and matured depth. Let the work take place, and then ascend to sight! We will descend with a shout and testimony of the marvelous works of our heavenly Father who does all things unto perfect and glorious completion to bring about a temple and house that He will call HIS.
