According to Your Word
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:28
Mary is one of my very favorite people. Her faith and positive response were paramount in the history of humanity. She was called and chosen, and highly favored. She was the mother of Christ following her response.
Because the story of Christ begins before His earthly entrance……
The story of Christ’s birth actually began even before prophets, kings, before Moses, before Abraham and Isaac because Yahweh had a plan for humanity from the beginning…. but for the sake of space on the page I want to address the beginning that led way to His physical entrance into this earth. The beginning, the plan set into motion, was actually when Gabriel greeted Mary, and told her the role she would play in God’s redemption plan. Yahweh’s plan was set into motion with young girl who had a willing heart.
When Gabriel came to Mary, his greeting was one that confused her momentarily, but she did not shy away or discount it. Luke 1:29 tells us she continued to listen to what he had to say, and when he finished, I believe it was her positive response that ushered the word of Yahweh God into the earth. She may have had no understanding at the start of the conversation, but she considered every word and gave her yes, and her amen. She listened to what he spoke, not just the first sentence, or fourth sentence, or only the last sentence. She considered it all, and the breath in her yes set the wheels moving for what would be salvation and redemption for all of mankind. She was the conduit that the son of God would come through to enter this earth.
Then Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel left her. Luke 1:38
Today my encouragement is this, you were chosen for this day and Yahweh God is with you. He selected you for this very day, this very moment, this very hour. Whether you read this the day it is published or five years from now, it remains true. It is not by accident or coincidence that you are in today. The father is with you and He is speaking. Hear His word in this moment, and then the next. Your response matters. May your response today and every day be, “May it be done according to Your word.” He is doing something incredible in and through YOU that will impact this earth and generations to come!
