Not a Secret Agent
57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away. Matthew 27:57-60
Joseph was a very wealthy man and prominent member of the Jewish council. He was a “secret agent” of Christ, virtually living a double life. Then that faithful day came when he saw his Lord and Savior hanging from a cross. Joseph could no longer be silent, discarding his hidden life for Christ. Joseph had come to a crossroad and needed to make a choice. He knew there was a chance he could lose everything, including his family and his own life. But his obedience and faith toward Christ had become more valuable.
Joseph realized the amazing gift of grace he was given, which far exceeded any earthly possession or position. His faith shifted toward Yahweh and His will rather than his own kingdom. Because of Joseph’s submission and commitment to Christ, he was blessed to be a part of the greatest story ever told. Joseph served as an example of change and selfless courage.
So, as you start your day, are you willing to step out in the open and be an obedient son of Yahweh? Not by words, but by your actions. What do people see? What do they witness? Do they notice a secret agent or an obedient son of Yahweh?
