Peace Be With You

The Rock of Central Florida   -
Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace [that is, a blessing of well-being and prosperity, the favor of God] to this house.’ Luke 10:5
When I hold my child before bed, I sing lullabies. These are usually little songs I’ve written to him, full of love. One of them focuses on Peace and goes, “Sleep with Peace tonight as angels surround your bedside. I know she’s with you; she’ll hear you like the friend that she is. There’ll be Peace on your pillow tonight.” In this, I see Peace as a being, as a friend that he can talk to and draw from. I am also asking Peace to be present with him.
What does Peace mean to you? Calm? Stillness? A deep steadiness?
When I read this verse, I see that peace is even more. This translation comes from the Amplified version to provide context for Greek or Hebrew words. This says that peace is a blessing of well-being, prosperity, and favor. We also know well that our bodies are the temple of God. We are that house!
While you may be reading this in the morning, like I sing over my son, I sing over you and your house. Peace. May the blessing of Peace be within your house today. May your house be well, prosperous, and full of Yahweh’s favor! From your head to your toes! There will be Peace in your day, and Peace on your pillow tonight!
