His Yoke
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Have you ever felt overwhelmed or burdened with guilt or worry? Maybe you are in the middle of that season right now. This past Sunday, Steve delivered an impactful message about guilt and the immense effects it has on us. It will stress you out, it will burden you, it will hinder you from moving forward. Too often, this guilt becomes a heavy burden, limiting our ability to fulfill His purpose for us. Our focus turns toward the yoke of guilt and stops us in our footsteps.
For instance, when you are around those whom you have hurt, if there is guilt of this past experience, it will affect your present behavior. You begin to question every decision you make; you begin to worry about what you say and how they may take it. The guilt becomes too heavy.
But Christ reassures and directs us to take up His yoke and to put ours down. His yoke enables us to repent, forgive and to press forward. So, as you start your day, what in your life has become a heavy burden? It may not be guilt; it maybe worries or an offense. Whatever it is, lay it down, and take up His yoke.
