The Reflection
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.” Matthew 23:27
Recently, we have been talking about the difference between resurrection and restoration. We have learned that the only way something can be truly transformed is to first die. The old has to pass away. The above passage refers to leaders in the church and how they presented themselves as the best while hiding the very worst. They had not died to themselves, in order to be resurrected and made into something new. They simply decorated the old, and Christ saw right through it.
Here is my encouragement to you this week. Don’t just try and dress up the old in your life. Be willing to let go of everything you are so you can become who He wants you to be. It is all about a complete transformation. Think about it! Do you want to just “look the part,” or do you want real change that will bring about an everlasting peace and joy?
