Belt of Truth
Recently in intercession we have turned our attention to the armor of God that each believer should be covered in. This spiritual armor is not about war, but rather is an identifying factor of the ready and prepared son. This past week the ‘belt of truth’ had our attention.
“So stand firm and hold your ground, HAVING TIGHTENED THE WIDE BAND OF TRUTH (personal integrity, moral courage) AROUND YOUR WAIST….” Ephesians 6:14
The belt of truth, kept securely fastened is a tool given, by the spirit, for us to dwell in His goodness all of our days and to be and exist in this earth as the sent one that we are intended to be. In biblical times, Roman soldiers would wear a belt and it would help keep their covering in place and their breastplate secured, and was necessary to hold their sword and other tools needed. When it was tight and fastened, they were ready for action. When it was loose and unsecured they were off duty. By the spirit, we are never off duty. We must be prepared, and secured in truth at all times. Truth is not something we put on and take off whenever we want.
If one were asked what is the meaning of truth many would say things like honesty, something that is true, or a fact. Some might say it is the opposite of a lie, but is so much deeper. In scripture truth, aletheia in Greek, is not merely a spoken truth, but it is the idea, reality, it is sincerity, and straightforwardness. Aletheia is all encompassing, the way you think, the way you live, your actions, responses, and behaviors, it is your morals and values as set forth by the Father. It is what is accurate, real, and authentic.
The meaning of Aletheia, truth, is the opposite of illusion. It is what is real. An illusion can be anything and can appear to be true, but it is not rooted in the Father. An illusion may be a memory or an old reference point that affects what we think or believe, the way we view circumstances. It may be thoughts, or insecurities we think or feel, but are in fact not true at all. It could even be a habit. This is where the belt of truth comes in sowe may stand securely rooted in Yahweh God.
Be mindful as you go about your week. Keep truth securely fastened about your waist. Ask Holy Spirit to guide you in all truth, and I promise He will do so.
