ENTER-tainment

The Rock of Central Florida   -

Twice last week I encountered the topic of entertainment. One was at one of the Wednesday night classes. We all engage in various forms. Television, music, sports, arts, hobbies, pass-times, even social media, and it can been be purely amusement or it can be educational. Almost anything can be entertainment depending on your interests. Holy Spirit directed my attention to the word itself, entertainment, and broke it down before my eyes. Entertainment begins with the word “enter”. My question to you is, what is entering your gates?

Entertainment: the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment; something engaging

Whatever entertainment you choose- whether you are providing it, it is provided for you, you are participating in it and opening a gateway into your temple which then affects your mind, body, and spirit. It is ENTERING through whatever avenue it has been given. I encourage you this morning to read all of Proverbs 4. It is a wealth of wisdom, but consider the points below now.

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Proverbs 4:25

What you watch on television, look at on the internet platforms, even books you read. Everything you set your eye on is entering by way of this gate. When aligned properly Yahweh is always before you.

My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Proverbs 4:20

What music you listen to, words spoken, in movies and songs, the sounds and frequencies all enter by the ear gate. Even what others say, their opinions and beliefs. When aligned properly, your ear is inclined to the Father’s voice.

Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Proverbs 4:24

The things you eat, drink, ingest all enter in by way of the mouth.

Just as you are responsible for what goes in, you are responsible for what goes out. Mind the words you speak and even how you say them. When aligned, the Father’s word is in your mouth.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23

Guarding your mind and heart go hand in hand. What you think on matters. You have the ability to hold every thought captive, it can make you sick or well, joyful or sad, and it impacts the way you see the world and everything in it. When aligned, we have the mind of Christ and our thoughts are His thoughts.

If we are not guarding the gates with all diligence it will be evident. What we do, see, say, hear, and think matters to those around us as well, it does not just impact us. Whatever your entertainment may be, it is entering in so be sure that it is glorifying the Father and a source of life. Clean house if needed so we may all ascend the hill of the Lord.
