Horn of Salvation

The Rock of Central Florida   -

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2

This verse was read in a recent Sunday message, and is a beautiful reminder of a facet of who our Heavenly Father is! In the same service we sang a song written within our house that says, “Under the shadow of your Wings, I find refuge and strength…” This is our positioning, and Psalm 18:2 is our declaration.

I am here to remind you today, everything you need, all that yourequire is in Him! He will hold us in the hidden place, if we will position ourselves in the shadow. We must choose it, He will not force us or do it for us. It is in THAT place that He is our rock, our fortress, our strength, our shield, and our horn of salvation. He is, in every moment, in every day, in every high or low place, bright or dark place, all of these things and more! King David knew this, and continually worshipped and praised the Creator from it.

As I reread this scripture this week, one particular piece stood out to me. David was praising the horn of salvation. In scripture, a qeren (Hebrew for horn) was seen as a symbol of victory, power, and even authority. David knew in whom he trusted, and He knew who had the ultimate victory and where he would see salvation. In all of his days, David stood in the shadow of His wings.

Yahweh is the champion in every Day, and should be recognized as such. He is the horn of salvation for the one who knows and the one who has not yet come into relationship. Every good and perfect thing comes from Him and through Him. So, spend your days lifting your voice, and exalt He who breathed life into your very bones.

The LORD lives, blessed be my rock; And may the God of my salvation be exalted. Psalm 18:46
