Own Your Testimony
“Love is patient and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
I’ve been considering comparison. We may compare another’s pain to what we’re experiencing or have overcome. If we think our pain is greater, we can become cold and damage a relationship and miss assigned opportunities to minister. If we minimize our challenges because others’ seem worse, then we dismiss areas that need attention or healing. Life is personal, and our mountains and valleys are custom-made and purposed.
Comparing joys has pitfalls too. I’ve learned that when in a hard place, an important key is to rejoice with others. There’s a difference in putting on a happy face and true rejoicing, and that difference may be love and relationship. Steve recently reminded us that blessing isn’t just financial, and richness can be found in every area of life.
Today, I encourage you to own your testimony. Bear witness to what Yahweh has done and is teaching you. Take care not to focus on another’s experience to then look back on your own with a false perspective. What has our great God done in your life? How can you rejoice from a place of love? What is He trying to grow in you? Where can you minister from a pure perspective? Consider deeply today!
