You Are The Example
“Show yourself is all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8
The most common way for someone to see Jesus is by meeting Him through His followers. As we go about our days, it is important to remember we represent something so much more than ourselves. That gas station clerk, coworker, Starbucks employee, or even the bad driver that cut you off may have yet to meet YHWH or accepted Christ into their hearts. And YOU may be the one to give them even a glimpse of something different, something that could kickstart a course in their life to total transformation and salvation. When you look at life through that lens, it can seem like a pretty heavy responsibility. The truth is, it is a heavy responsibility, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a burden. There are going to be times where we, as Kingdom sons, fall short. We may lose our patience, be distracted or rushed, but those aren’t things to get hung up on. When an opportunity may have been missed, we are able to repent and refocus to not make that mistake the next time. As we go about our days, we represent Christ here on Earth. Maybe a moment calls for us to have a heartfelt conversation with a stranger. Maybe we just need to be patient with a difficult coworker or still give a full tip to a rude server at a restaurant. Whatever the moment calls for, be willing and ready to be the full representation of what a person who has been redeemed through Christ looks like in a society that does not promote such lifestyles. Be the example of the Kingdom!
