God Willing
“Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’” James 4:15
We have all heard the saying “God willing” or “Lord willing” and may even commonly use that as a response to questions about the future. In and of itself, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this saying and it is a very true statement. The issue I believe this phrase has, is that it has been watered down to the point where the user of it, myself included, does not consider the gravity of what they are saying. I know that there have been times that I say things that are true but speak flippantly and cause those truths to lose the power they hold. As we speak, especially as Sons, we should always consider what we say regarding Yahweh God. When we say “God willing” for example, really consider that it is by His will alone that we woke up this morning and took our first breath. It is by His will alone that we walk in the blessings we have in our life and in Him we find the strength to walk through hardships. We were created by His will and when our hearts are after His, His will becomes our will. If it is God’s will in your life, I encourage you to place yourself right in the middle of it. When you pursue the heart of the Father, you will find your will being in agreement with His.
