Day of Wonder
“And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, ‘We have seen extraordinary things today.’” Luke 5:26
Wonder is all throughout scripture. It can be found from beginning to end, in the First Testament and the Second Testament. It can be found happening in every book, in men and women, and in the young and old.
Noah found grace to build the Ark, or the wonders that took place in Egypt before a hardened Pharaoh, when the walls of Jericho fell to the ground, or a young David struck down a giant. How about when Jesus turned water to wine, or healed the man at the pool of Bethesda? When Christ was seen walking on water, or the response of the Samaritan women at the well when she beheld the Messiah? What about the wonder of a man named Abraham and his faith? Or a virgin giving birth to the Son of God? The miracle of a man named Saul being transformed into Paul. These are but a few examples of the wonders of our God!
Wonder is defined as a miracle, a sign, something splendid, beautiful, possibly unexplainable, and usually unexpected. It is also found in you and me- in the way we love Him, and admiration and amazement of our creator to see His glory, to acknowledge His ways, and is opportunity for us to perceive by seeing when we set our eyes on His face. It is a deep and profound word to try to give explanation to the great and gloriousness, awesome and wonderous ways of our Father, and to understand what we behold as we witness His ways and then we give glory to Him, and honor to Him, and our praise to Him.
“There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord,
Nor are there any works [of wonder and majesty] like Yours.
All nations whom You have made shall come and kneel down in worship before You, O Lord,
And they shall glorify Your name.
For You are great and do wondrous works!
You alone are God.” Psalm 86:8-10
This is a Day of Wonder! Not a 24-hour time period, or a set number of days or hours. Yahweh is a God of wonder every moment if you will see it. His wonder is all around us, His glory and magnificence are evident in His sons and daughters, it is in YOU. My hope is you are ready, and I believe you are! Look, and see. Behold, and perceive.
