Without Seeing
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
Faith is a paramount part of living as a child of God. As stated in Hebrews 11:6, it is IMMPOSSIBLE to please God without it. In fact, in 2 Corinthians 5:7 we are called to walk by faith and not by sight!
Today, proof or evidence is needed before we will believe in something or someone. If we cannot see it, touch it, or smell it, then it cannot be true. For instance, miracles or events that cannot be explained by the natural mind, are often questioned. I have shared many times with other believers about a miraculous event that I have personally experienced. Most of the time, they are polite, smile back and shake their head as to acknowledge the event. But one can discern they lack faith in the miracle you just shared. Because they did not see it, touch it or personally experience it, their doubt is ever-present.
Most recently, I shared with some believers about how God miraculously healed a close loved one of a health issue. A 4-centimeter mass was identified, and there was great concern by the doctors it was cancer. After numerous tests, a biopsy was finally ordered to confirm our greatest fear. We prayed and had faith God would move on our behalf.
As we are at the medical center for the biopsy to be completed, I was informed there is a problem. I was asked to go back to my family member to speak with the physician. He shows me on the monitor that he could not find the mass. The mass did not get smaller, it just completely disappeared. We asked him what happened? He said he cannot explain it. All the other tests showed the mass being present, and in less than a week, it was completely gone. No human explanation of how this occurred, but I know what happened; it was a miracle of God!!!
As I shared this amazing move of God with fellow believers, many gave me that polite look and smile. I knew they doubted because they did not personally see it.
Jesus experiences this in John 2:23. People only believed in Him because they saw the miracle, not because of Who He is.
“Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.” John 2:23
Faith is not believing because you see it, but when all you have is a “conviction of things NOT seen.”
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrew 11:1
As you start your day, take an inventory of your faith. Are you walking by sight, or are you walking in faith without seeing?
