Part of the Flow

The Rock of Central Florida   -

“In the beginning God created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good and He affirmed and sustained it;” Genesis 1:1-4

I recently learned that in Creation when Yahweh says, “Let there be light,” that let is what’s considered the best replacement for a word we don’t have in English. It’s used because it indicates Yahweh’s will, rather than His forceful command. It means that Yahweh created the heavens and earth out of nothing, and out of what he created, He intended for MORE life to follow. In this case, light! Then He “affirmed and sustained it.” In other words, he approved, validated and took care of what followed from His intent.

How encouraging! Although I’m not Adam or Eve that Yahweh literally formed from dust, bone and tangible breath, I am the continuation of creation that He began when He first formed the heavens and earth from nothing. He has validated me. He has sustained me. I am His!

YOU are a part of Yahweh’s original word that still flows from the heavens and the earth. YOU are a demonstration of His will and intent, a generational son or daughter, validated and sustained as His very own.

When we focus on our portion and timeline, it’s hard to see how we fit into an epic, unfolding purpose. But remember that then “there was light.” It’s not about a beginning or an ending, but our valuable part of that flow. Whether you’re the prophet, the pioneer, the builder, the sustainer, or the finisher, celebrate your olam work. He is STILL creating – in and through you!
