Passing Through The Waters
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2
A little less than a year ago, I went on a camping trip with a group of guys, brothers to me. To get to the campsite, it required several miles of pretty intense hiking. The path (which could barely be considered more than a game trail) crossed a river over 10 times. It had been raining the days leading up to our trip so the water level was much deeper than expected, sometimes up to chest deep. The river was also moving pretty fast. Each time we crossed, we had to make a line and hold on to each other. If anyone would have tried to go alone, they would have been swept away. The only way to make it across was with help from the one next to you and their only way was with your help. This verse in Isaiah immediately reminded me of these river crossings we had done together.
As we cross through the waters of our days, the rivers of our lives and the fires that go up around us, YHWH is there, holding you upright. That doesn’t mean He Carrie’s is through life and through our battles and challenging times, but He holds us up, He will not let the waters overwhelm us or the flames consume us. He makes the impossible become achievable and the overwhelming something bearable. When you go about your day today, whether you have a million small fires to put out or you feel life is sweeping you away, call out to the Father to bear the weight and walk it out alongside you. YHWH will use your experiences to teach you and to grow you, bringing you into the fullness of your purpose. To the King!
