When Yahweh Asks A Question

The Rock of Central Florida   -

We are all familiar with scriptures in the bible encouraging us to ask, inquire, and seek the Father, but have you ever considered why Yahweh God would ask questions of us?

“Where are you?” Genesis 3:9

So he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” Genesis 32:27

 “Whom shall I send….” Isaiah 6:8

These are just a few examples, of many times, Yahweh posed a question to mankind in one form or fashion.

“Where are you?” is what He asked in the garden. He knew well where the first man and woman were, as well as what had happened and the choice that was made. The question required Adam to answer and acknowledge that they were hiding from the Father due to the transgression that had taken place. The question was asked by a Father seeking out the son who was hiding from Him.

“What is your name?” this angel of the Lord asked of Jacob. He already knew his name. He was not asked because it was unknown, but rather the Father wanted Jacob to acknowledge who he was and what he was identified as. Once it was acknowledged by Jacob, Yahweh changed Jacob’s name to Israel. It was a demonstration of the change that was taking place on the inside. For Jacob to acknowledge who he had been up until that point gave a greater significance to the new identity and new name that the Father had for him.

Whom shall I send….” is the question during a commission of Isaiah. It was Isaiah’s answer, “Here I am, send me!” that revealed the heart of Isaiah, a faithful man who gave his yes, and a prophet willing to go wherever he was to be sent in order to bring the word of the Father to a people. Isaiah was paying attention.

He does not ask because He does not know the answer. He asks because He wants our heart to be revealed, He wants us to acknowledge the answer and where we are, and He is looking for us to pay attention. When He asks a question, it is not random or haphazard, but is full of intent and purpose to bring us into deeper relationship with Him.

So today, remember, and pay attention! When the Father, through Holy Ghost, asks a question of you, it is opportunity to walk through a door to know and understand another facet of Him and His way. It is a mystery for you to discover, another moment for you to give your yes and amen and may very well become a point of reference for you again and again.
